Before talking about light, sound or coffee, you need to bring power to the right place. Single-phase 16A cabling rental covers all the standard electrical distribution of an event: extension leads, power strips, two-way splitters, Schuko and Powercon cords, cable reels and complete kits to supply 220 V to speakers, spotlights, screens, coffee machines and the selfie booth. It is the humblest link in the installation, and the first one you regret having underestimated.

The 16A range in detail

Basic distribution relies on the PC16A extension lead - 5m (from €0.70 excl. VAT) and its 1, 3 and 10-metre versions, to be combined to cover the exact distance between the distribution board and the consuming device. To multiply connection points, the 220V 16A power strip and the 220V 16A two-way splitter share the power across a control desk, while the IP44 weatherproof power strip in a tray secures connections on the floor or under a marquee. Then come the mains cords: two-core mini power cable for small devices, cloverleaf Schuko cable for computers, Powercon and Powercon True One cables and extensions to daisy-chain speakers and moving-head fixtures. For long distances, the Electric cable reel/drum - 25m and its 40 m version reach a distant source without multiplying connections. Finally, the PC 16 S CABLING KIT and XL bring together the essentials of a small or large installation, from €18 excl. VAT.

Sizing your distribution for the event

A corporate cocktail in a fully equipped room is often satisfied with an S kit, a few extension leads and one power strip per zone (bar, DJ, screen). A seminar with several workshop rooms requires a set of extension leads and a power strip per work table, plus Schuko cords for the computers. For a wedding under a marquee, favour weatherproof power strips, long cable reels to reach the power supply point and protected cable crossings wherever guests circulate. As soon as the cumulative power exceeds what a 16A line can supply, you need to move up a level with Single-phase 32A cabling or a three-phase supply.

Delivery, cable running and return

Our technicians deliver the cabling with the rest of the technical equipment, run the lines, secure the crossings and collect everything at dismantling, cleaning included. With the Drive (pick-up) service, you collect cables and power strips at our warehouse. Prices, very affordable per unit, are for a 1 to 3-day rental period; festivals, exhibitions and long-running film shoots benefit from a decreasing rate for longer periods. The most efficient approach is still to send us your floor plan with the list of devices to be powered: we work out the cabling needed and return a quote to you quickly.

How many devices can be connected to a 16A line?

A 16A line delivers around 3,500 W. Add up the power of your devices (shown on their label) and keep a 20% margin; beyond that, spread the load over several lines or move up to 32A.

What length of extension lead should I plan?

Measure the real distance between the socket and the device following the route along the floor and the walls, then add two to three metres for comfort. Several short extension leads connect together without any problem, but a single cable reel remains tidier over long distances.

Can the cabling be used outdoors?

Extension leads and cable reels are suitable for temporary outdoor use; for connections on the floor or exposed to rain, use the IP44 weatherproof power strip and raise the connections off the ground. Our teams can advise you on protecting the cable crossings.
