The decorator's essential tapes

Cloth gaffer tape, in black, white or grey, tears by hand and holds firmly without leaving residue: it is the tape that secures cables to the floor and makes walkways safe. Double-sided carpet tape bonds a rug to a wooden floor and peels away cleanly at the end. Coloured, satin or washi-style decorative tapes highlight a table runner, dress the foot of a vase or trace a geometric pattern across a photocall wall. Finally, self-adhesive Velcro strips and repositionable pads let you hang lightweight signage or a garland without drilling into or damaging the walls of a listed venue.




The right adhesive for each surface and event

At a trade show, where stands go up and come down within a few hours, gaffer tape and double-sided carpet tape are indispensable. For a wedding in a heritage venue, opt for low-tack repositionable adhesives for garlands and floral arrangements, and always test on a small, discreet area first. For a corporate evening or a product launch, coloured tapes matched to your brand guidelines structure the space: lines on the floor to guide the flow of guests, frames around mirrors, trims on vases and tealight holders. Outdoors, choose adhesives that withstand moisture and UV, and secure decorative plants and lanterns with additional fastenings if wind is forecast.




Ordering, delivery and collection

Adhesives are consumables: unlike furniture, they are not taken back at the end of the event and become yours once cut. They are added to your rental quote and delivered by our teams together with the decoration, tables and seating, or collected through our Drive (pick-up) service at our warehouse if you prefer to prepare your installation yourself. Our decorators can also apply them on site when you entrust us with the complete scenography. Prices are quoted excl. How much adhesive should I allow for?

A 50 m roll of gaffer tape covers around 25 m of cable secured with two strips. For carpet, allow one roll of double-sided tape for every 20 to 25 m² laid around the perimeter. Always add a spare roll: running short is noticed at the worst possible moment.




Does gaffer tape leave marks?

Removed within 72 hours, quality gaffer tape leaves no residue on a smooth floor or a carpet. On fragile paintwork or waxed wood, favour masking tape or repositionable pads.




Can adhesives be used on stone or an old wall?

Porous surfaces take adhesive poorly and are easily damaged. Use Velcro strips or adhesive hooks designed for delicate surfaces, and ask the venue for permission. Our teams will point you towards the right reference.




Are adhesives taken back with the rented equipment?

No: they are consumables invoiced per unit and kept by the client. Opened rolls remain yours, which means you can reuse them at your next event.
