bnc / sdi cable rental | video solutions
How do you carry a high-definition picture from a camera to the control desk, forty metres away, with no loss or drop-out? BNC SDI cabling rental is the video capture professional's answer. The BNC connector, with its quarter-turn lock, guarantees a connection that does not come loose the first time a technician walks past; the SDI signal, for its part, carries uncompressed video over distances far greater than HDMI. This category also includes 50 Ohm BNC cables intended for the antennas of wireless microphone systems.
HD SDI video cables and 50 Ohm BNC cables
For video, the BNC HD SDI video cable - 5m (from €5 excl. VAT) links a camera to a nearby switcher or a converter to a monitor. The BNC HD SDI video cable - 10m crosses a stage, and the SDI video cable reel - 50m (from €55 excl. VAT) reaches the control desk installed at the back of an auditorium. For radio frequency, the 50 Ohm BNC/BNC cables move the antennas of wireless microphone receivers to a clear spot: the 50 Ohm BNC/BNC cable - 0.5m connects the elements of a rack, while the 2 m, 5 m and 10 m lengths and the 50 Ohm BNC/BNC cable - 30m allow the antennas to be placed in line of sight of the stage, away from metal obstacles.
Advice for your capture and broadcast set-ups
At a corporate convention with relay to side screens, two or three cameras reach the switcher via SDI connections of 10 to 50 m; the programme output then goes to the screens via a reel or an HDMI conversion. A symposium live-streamed online uses the same layout, with an encoder at the control desk. For a filmed awards evening, always plan a back-up connection per camera. On the wireless microphone side, as soon as the receivers are at the control desk and the stage is over twenty metres away, moving the antennas with 50 Ohm cables avoids sound drop-outs at the most awkward moment.
Rental and pick-up arrangements
Every cable and every reel is checked before departure and delivered labelled with its length. Our technical team can install all of your video cabling at the same time as the cameras, screens and control desk, then handle the complete collection; checking and reconditioning on return are included. Well-equipped clients sometimes prefer our Drive service: the order is prepared and collected from our warehouse. Prices cover a 1 to 3-day rental period, with a decreasing rate for longer events. A precise quote is drawn up as soon as we receive your signal flow diagram or a simple list of your devices.

Consumer video and video projectors connect via HDMI cabling, older sources via VGA and DVI cabling. Control feeds and digital audio run through our RJ45 and Ethercon cabling, and microphones through our XLR cabling. All these connections are gathered in the Cabling and electrical distribution family.
SDI or HDMI: which should I choose for video capture?
SDI is preferred as soon as the distance exceeds around ten metres or the connection needs to stay locked: cameras, switchers, control desk. HDMI remains the norm for computers, screens and video projectors. Converters allow you to move from one to the other.
What is the range of an HD SDI cable?
An HD SDI signal travels 50 m without difficulty on a quality cable, and often much further. Our 50 m reel covers most room and marquee configurations.
What are 50 Ohm BNC cables for?
They are not intended for video but for the antennas of wireless microphone and in-ear monitor receivers. They allow the antennas to be moved away from the rack to improve reception.
How many SDI cables should I plan for three cameras?
One cable per camera to the switcher, one for the programme output to the screen or the encoder, and at least one spare cable. Tell us the distances and we will put together the right set.
